Just watched the second programme and do so agree about the awful waste. If you grow your own vegetables, you eat what comes out of the ground – why should it be any different with the farmer’s produce?

It’s absolutely appalling. The supermarkets have too much power over the farmers. They don’t seem to give a second thought about the produce that gets wasted because it doesn’t reach a certain standard or the fact they cancel or change an order overnight when the crop is being picked. I am very proud to say we as a family waste very little. Soups, smoothies or frozen if something is not going to get eaten. At the moment we are giving away apples. We have two apple trees in our garden which have produced a huge crop. Too many for us. We don’t like or agree with unnecessary waste.
