We had another glut of blackcurrants this year so as well as making up the yearly batch of blackcurrant jam we decided to try our hand at blackcurrant vodka and I must say “it’s delicious”.  With advice from twothirstygardeners.co.uk/ we decided to give it a go.  We started off small this year with two bottles of vodka (supermarkets own brand), an empty large clip top bottle, sugar and of course the blackcurrants.  Next year will be a different story!  It couldn’t be simpler……..

In the empty clip top bottle (1 ltr bottle) fill it one third full of washed ripe blackcurrants and add approx 75g sugar.  Top up with vodka using vodka from both bottles to make room for their blackcurrants and sugar.  Seal and shake to mix.  Add blackcurrants and sugar to the other two bottles.  Seal and shake to mix the ingredients.  Leave somewhere cool for months – bottled in August ready in December…………
