Makes 12 muffins

250g wholemeal buckwheat flour or wholemeal plain flour
2 tsp baking powder
50g cocoa powder or raw cacao powder
50g sugar
2 medium eggs
225 ml milk
4 tbsp vegetable oil
100g dark chocolate chips
150g chopped Medjoul Dates

Heat the oven to 200C/Fan 180/Gas 6 and prepare a 12 hole muffin tin with cases.

Mix together in a bowl the flour, cocoa, sugar and baking powder.  Add the chopped dates and chocolate chips and stir.

In a jug mix together the milk, eggs and oil and pour into the flour and mix thoroughly.

Spoon the mixture into the 12 muffin cases and bake in the oven for approximately 20 minutes.

Leave to cool slightly before enjoying.
